The Waxing Ritual

Preparation, Aftercare & Essential Guidance

Beautiful waxing results begin before your appointment and continue with thoughtful aftercare.

To ensure your experience is as comfortable as possible and to leave your skin beautifully smooth, calm and cared for we kindly ask you to follow the guidance below.

Before Your Wax

A little preparation makes all the difference

For beautifully smooth, long-lasting results, we recommend preparing your skin ahead of your appointment.

Allow your hair to grow
For the wax to grip effectively, hair should ideally be approximately ¼ inch / 6 mm long, usually around 2–3 weeks of growth.

Exfoliate gently
Lightly exfoliate the area 24–48 hours before your appointment. This helps remove dead skin cells and can reduce the likelihood of ingrown hairs. Please avoid exfoliating on the day of your treatment.

Keep your skin hydrated
Well-moisturised skin can make your waxing experience more comfortable. Moisturise regularly in the days before your appointment, but avoid applying oils, rich creams or body lotions immediately beforehand.

Avoid heat & sun exposure
Please avoid sunbathing, sunbeds and excessive heat for 24–48 hours before your wax, as recently exposed skin may be more sensitive.

Arrive with clean, product-free skin
Where possible, please avoid deodorant, perfume, oils and heavily fragranced products on the area being treated.

Choose comfortable clothing
Loose, breathable clothing is ideal following body and intimate waxing, helping to minimise unnecessary friction against freshly waxed skin.

Your Patch Test

An essential part of your treatment journey

Your skin deserves the highest level of care.

A patch test must be completed at least 24 hours before your first waxing treatment, or whenever we advise that a new patch test is required.

This allows us to assess your skin’s response to the products being used and helps us provide your treatment as safely and comfortably as possible.

Please be aware that although patch testing is an important precaution, it cannot guarantee that a sensitivity or reaction will never occur.

Before We Wax

Contraindications & important considerations

Your skin health will always come first.

There are certain circumstances in which we may need to adapt, postpone or decline a waxing treatment. Please let us know before your appointment if you have any concerns or if any of the following apply to the area being treated:

* Broken, grazed, cut or irritated skin
* Sunburn or recently overexposed skin
* Active skin infections or contagious skin conditions
* Cold sores, open lesions or sores
* Active eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis flare-ups
* Significant bruising, swelling or inflammation
* Unhealed or recently formed scar tissue
* Recent surgery in the treatment area
* Severe or inflamed varicose veins
* Known sensitivities or allergies to waxing products or ingredients
* Recent chemical peels, laser treatments, microdermabrasion or intensive skin resurfacing treatments
* Skin that has become particularly thin, fragile or sensitised

Retinol, Retinoids & Active Skincare

Please tell us before your appointment if you are using retinol, prescription retinoids, exfoliating acids, acne treatments or other prescription-strength skincare.

These products can make the skin significantly more delicate, and waxing sensitised skin may increase the risk of irritation or skin lifting.

Please also let us know about any medication or recent changes to your health that may affect your skin.

If you are ever unsure, please contact us before your appointment. We would always prefer to check suitability beforehand and ensure your treatment is right for you.

After Your Wax

Protecting that beautifully smooth finish

Freshly waxed skin deserves a little extra attention.

It is perfectly normal for the area to appear slightly pink, warm or sensitive immediately following your treatment. For most clients, this settles naturally.

For the first 24–48 hours, we recommend keeping your aftercare beautifully simple.

Keep it clean
Avoid unnecessarily touching the freshly waxed area, particularly with unwashed hands.

Keep it cool
Give your skin time to settle by avoiding excessive heat, steam and hot environments.

Keep it comfortable
Choose loose, breathable clothing wherever possible to minimise rubbing and friction.

Keep it gentle
Avoid fragranced or highly active skincare products on the area. If required, use only gentle, soothing products recommended for freshly waxed skin.

Introduce exfoliation gradually
Once the skin is completely calm — usually after approximately 48 hours — gentle exfoliation 2–3 times per week can help prevent the build-up of dead skin and minimise ingrown hairs.

Maintain your results
Regular moisturising and a consistent waxing routine will help keep your skin feeling soft, smooth and beautifully maintained between appointments.

The First 24–48 Hours

A few things your skin would rather avoid

To protect freshly waxed skin and minimise irritation, please avoid:

* Hot baths and very hot showers
* Saunas and steam rooms
* Swimming pools and hot tubs
* Sunbathing and sunbeds
* Fake tan and self-tanning products
* Intense exercise and excessive perspiration
* Tight or restrictive clothing over the treated area
* Perfumed lotions, deodorants and fragranced products on freshly waxed skin
* Scrubs and physical exfoliation
* Retinol, exfoliating acids and other strong active skincare
* Picking, scratching or rubbing the skin
* Shaving or alternative hair-removal methods over the freshly treated area

For intimate waxing, we also recommend avoiding activities that create excessive heat, perspiration or friction until the skin has completely settled.

A Final Touch of Care

A little redness or sensitivity immediately after waxing can be completely normal.

However, if you experience persistent or unusual swelling, blistering, severe discomfort, significant skin lifting or signs of infection, please seek appropriate medical advice and let us know.

Every skin is beautifully individual. Your therapist may therefore provide personalised preparation or aftercare advice depending on your skin and the treatment you have chosen.

Smooth skin. Thoughtful care. Beautiful results.

We want every stage of your waxing experience from preparation to the final result to feel considered, comfortable and beautifully cared for.
